About Us

Turning Interest Into Action

Mission:

We aim to create a community to connect all Latinxs in tech and all Latinxs who are interested in tech. We want to be a fountain of FREE resources and opportunities to help create accessibility within the Latinx community and change the usual trajectory we see in tech. We want to see Latinxs with high school degrees get jobs in tech, Latinxs that usually face barriers to upward mobility should know this is an option and it can be FREE but does cost in effort. We want to build a community of support for Latinxs who code or are interested in STEAM to support and empower each other during the most difficult moments of mental health struggles, social justice fights, and any other experience particular to the Latinx community and other communities of color. Yes we want to help you learn about all things STEAM but we believe in doing it with intersectionality theory at the heart of it so that we can have a REAL impact where it is needed most.

Vision:

To create a virtual community for Latinxs in tech that provides and encourages access for all Latinxs, but simultaneously believes in the importance of supporting the whole experience of those most marginalized within the Latinx community. We operate with intersectionality theory at our core because we know significant social identities add up to create different and oppressive life experiences depending on the identities one may belong to. We know there can be additive effects when someone belongs to multiple significant social identities that are treated unfairly in society

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. LatinasWhoCode emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. We’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
